Scary Movie
May 28, 2009
I used to love scary movies. It was always such a fun adrenaline rush when the freaky music started up and you knew something was going to pop out of the bushes at any second. But I found that the older I got, the more cowardly I became. I used to tell my son to close his eyes and cover his ears whenever a preview for a scary movie came on TV. Now I'm the one who covers my ears and closes my eyes. I'm dead serious. And when I warn my son, "Scary movie! Don't look!" He looks at me like, Woman, do you not see that I'm a man now? I am not scared of the boogie monster anymore. Get a grip.
The other day...
Son: Mom, my friends and I want to go see Angels and Demons.
Me: Isn't that a scary movie? I don't know. What is it rated?
Son: I don't know.
Me: You can only see it if it's rated PG-13.
Son: Mom, there are no scary movies rated PG-13.
Me: Yes there are.
Son: Like what?
Me: Um...Nightmare Before Christmas? Oh yeah, and Coraline!
Son: Wow.
